  Chapter One

Ally woke with a fright, sweat bathing her, her breathing ragged and raw.

A nightmare. It was just a nightmare. Not real.

But dammit, that was the second one this week, what the hell was going on?

Scenes from the terrifying dream drifted through her head as she lay in bed and concentrated on slowing her breathing. Sweat saturated her nightgown but the man still fast asleep beside her, reassured her that she hadn’t thrashed about, or worse, screamed.

Even Jake couldn’t have slept through that. When Jake slept, he really slept. He’d learned to grab sleep where he could when he’d gone through medical school. Even now, with his own practice, he often worked long hours and on those days, fell into bed, drifting immediately into a heavy sleep.

Ally had hoped her nightmares would have disappeared by now. It was so wonderful being with Jake. She felt safe, secure, and so happy. She’d been living with Jake for a year now, and her nightmares had slowly become fewer and fewer, her insecurities lessening. Before this week, her last nightmare had been over six weeks ago.

So why had she had two nightmares this week? What was triggering them?

Ally took a deep breath, feeling sticky, shaky and slightly ill. Fear still bubbled in her stomach and she knew she wasn’t going back to sleep tonight. She glanced at the bedside clock. 3.35am. No way could she lie here for another four hours.

She desperately wanted a glass of water and a long, hot shower. All she had to do was sneak out of bed without waking Jake. Shouldn’t be hard, he’d worked a long day. He was exhausted.

Moving slowly, inch by inch, she climbed from the bed; shivering slightly as cool air hit her damp body. Standing, she walked past the door leading to the connected bathroom in favor of the guest bathroom farther down the passage.

Quickly stripping off her nightgown, Ally hopped into the steaming shower, sighing with satisfaction. Hot water massaged her tense muscles, relaxing her bit by bit. Remnants of the nightmare still remained, however.

Why did she still let the asshole affect her this way? Why couldn’t she just let the past go? She had a great man who loved her, who cherished and protected her. Why couldn’t she just let herself be happy?

Instead Lyle still infected her dreams. Yelling at her, berating her. Hurting her.

Growing light-headed from the heat, she turned off the dials and stepped out to towel herself dry.

  “You okay, sweetheart?”

Ally let out a yelp, jumping up as Jake spoke from behind her. Swirling around, she held her hand to her chest, breathing heavily as she tried to calm her raging heartbeat.

“Hey. Hey, now,” Jake kept his voice low and soothing as he held up his hands in a placating manner. “It’s just me, sweetheart.”

Ally took a deep breath. “You frightened me. I didn’t hear you come in.”

Jake frowned with concern, his eyes darkening as they raced over her still trembling body. “I didn’t feel you get up. Why didn’t you wake me up, sweet?” He took the towel from her and finished drying her body. Ally closed her eyes and drew comfort from his caring.

“You need your sleep,” she explained once he’d stopped drying her. Opening her eyes, she saw him pick up her nightgown. He stared at the sweat-soaked gown with a frown. Turning back, he placed a hand on her forehead.

Ally smiled. He was always fussing over her, worrying about her. Another woman might have found it smothering, she relished it. “I’m fine, Jake.”

“You’re running a temperature.” His face was concerned as he lifted her into his arms.

Ally gasped in surprise at the sudden move. “Jake! Put me down!”

Jake ignored her protest and carried her down to their bedroom, placing her on their bed. “Why didn’t you tell me you felt sick? You should have woken me up as soon as you started to feel ill.”

“I didn’t wake you up because I don’t feel ill, Jake. Honey, I’m fine. I was just a bit hot in bed and then I took a hot shower. I promise I’m not sick.”

Jake grasped her wrist in his hand, placing his fingers over her pulse. As a doctor he saw sick people every day, yet he always went into overprotective mode if he thought she was unwell. It was almost funny the way he overreacted. Well, it would be if she wasn’t on the receiving end. Last month she’d had to spend a week in bed for a simple cold.

Having no wish to spend tomorrow in bed, Ally grabbed his hand as he stood and pushed the blankets over her. He turned towards the bathroom.

“Jake, I’m fine,” she told him. “I just woke up sweaty and wanted a shower.”

He ran a hand over her damp hair. “You should have woken me up, kid. I don’t like the thought of you awake and feeling ill. You could have had a dizzy spell and slipped in the shower and I wouldn’t have known.”

“Jake,” she sighed in exasperation. “I don’t feel ill. I’m fine. I just woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep, okay?”

“Hmm.” He looked down at her thoughtfully, as if gauging the truth. “All right. I’ll take your temperature to be sure, though, and then I think I have a way of helping you sleep.”

“Jake, come back to bed; you’ve only had a few hours sleep.” She didn’t like causing him so much trouble, he’d gotten home very late and she knew he had to be absolutely exhausted. “I was just going to get up and watch some TV.”

She tried to sit but he pushed her back down gently, standing over her with a firm look on his face.

“You’re not getting up to watch TV, little girl, it’s far too late for that. Now, lie back and let me look after you.”

Ally’s insides danced at the words. It only took those two words ‘little girl’ combined with his take charge voice to put her into little girl mode. When his dark, deep voice took on a stern but loving tone she instantly reacted. Her stomach dropped and she regressed back to being a little girl.

That voice, those words meant that Jake was firmly in charge and that Ally, as his little girl, didn’t need to worry about anything but doing as her Daddy told her. Which, of course, she didn’t always manage to do, but then nobody expected a little girl to be perfect, certainly not her Daddy.

Ally hadn’t let her little girl free for two weeks now. Jake’s schedule had been hectic and he’d been away more than he’d been home. Ally realised she’d missed their Daddy/little girl time.

Leaning over, he opened the drawer beside his bed and pulled out a binky. “Open up,” he ordered softly, smiling gently as she immediately opened her mouth and begun sucking happily.

“Good girl, you just lie there and I’ll be back soon,” he whispered kissing her forehead before he stood and left the room.

Ally was a grown woman. In a month’s time she’d be thirty-three. But while she spent many of her days as an adult, shopping, paying bills, working, the little part of her was never far from the surface. This part of her needed to come out sometimes, to be loved, to be looked after, to have her Daddy take charge.

Ally was introduced to Jake through a friend. She couldn’t believe it when she met him. He was perfect. Gorgeous, kind, smart. A well-respecte
d doctor, he’d been part of the age play lifestyle for years and was looking for a little girl to take care of. When they’d met, Jake was already living here in this gated community. Only people who were part of the lifestyle or who wanted to be were allowed into this community and they had to go through a rigorous screening in order to even be considered by the community’s council.

He’d set up his own medical practice within the community. He also worked at least one day a week at the hospital in the city; usually it was this work that kept him working all hours of the night.

Ally had hardly dared to hope that Jake would actually like her. She hadn’t had high hopes for their first meeting. After all, she wasn’t much of a catch. She’d barely graduated from high school. She wasn’t exactly beautiful. She was rather average, really. With long, dark-red hair, light green eyes and pale skin. At five foot nine, she towered over most other women. Her height had been the bane of her existence growing up, she’d always felt so ungainly and large compared to the other girls in her class.

Jake, with his dark hair and deep, dark green eyes, those chiselled cheeks and hard, hot body was the sexiest man she’d ever met and she constantly thanked God that he’d come into her life. She still didn’t know, even after nearly a year of being together, what he saw in her. But she wasn’t about to question it.

Both of them had been in age play relationships that had ended before they met. Ally’s previous relationship had scarred her emotionally. She’d been horribly nervous about letting her little girl out with Jake, of entering into another relationship, of letting herself be that vulnerable again. But Jake had soon proved himself to be a great Daddy. He was kind, thoughtful, firm. He didn’t let her away with anything, but he never abused or ignored her. When she was with Jake, Ally knew she was safe.

It hadn’t taken her long to realise that she was falling in love with him. And to her amazement he felt the same way about her. As Ally had grown to trust him, they’d decided she should move in with him. She felt much safer with Jake, and living within the community with other age play couples. No one here would ever ridicule or make her feel ashamed for how she felt.

She loved the way she felt when she regressed, liked the freedom of giving up all of her control, of letting go of all her worries and fears, of having someone take care of her, protect her and keep her safe. Jake fulfilled all those needs perfectly.

  “Okay, little Ally.”

Ally looked up as she saw Jake return and place an adult-sized baby bottle filled with milk on the bedside table. Then she frowned as he dropped the rest of the stuff he held on the bed. Her diaper bag landed beside her hip, but it wasn’t that which made her frown. It was the thermometer and tube of lubricant that he held in his other hand.

“On your stomach, little girl,” Jake spoke gently but his face was firm and Ally rolled on her stomach with a humph of displeasure. A soft whack to her rump told her that he’d heard her grumpy sigh.

“Enough of that, missy. It’s my job to take care of you. And to keep you healthy I need to check your temperature. Now up onto your knees.”

Ally rose onto her knees, grimacing at the sight she knew this presented. Her bottom was round and white, not her best feature, especially when it was on prominent display like this.

She looked over her shoulder to find Jake lubricating the rectal thermometer. He looked over at her.

  “Face forward, please.”

Ally turned around, scrunching her face up as Jake slipped the thermometer into her bottom hole. It didn’t hurt, but it sure was embarrassing to have to lie this way with her butt raised and open, a thermometer poking out of it.

And it wasn’t a quick process. Jake held the thermometer inside her bottom for a good three or four minutes, twirling it a couple of times. Ally sucked on her binky harder, glad to have that little comfort.

“Hmm,” Jake sighed as he pulled the thermometer out and rolled her over onto her back.

“Your temperature’s a little high, baby girl. You sure you’re feeling okay?” His gaze roamed over her as he ran his fingers over her cheek, his touch gentle.

Ally nodded, unable to speak around the binky in her mouth.

“Okay then. I expect you to wake me if you feel sick or you can’t sleep, baby.” It wasn’t an order, but rather an expectation. Little girl Ally wouldn’t try to keep something like that from her Daddy, she’d want his comfort and security.

“Bottom up, baby.” Ally lifted her bottom up, allowing Jake to slip a diaper underneath her butt. He wiped cream over her privates to prevent rashes, and then pulled the diaper around, fastening it tight. As he wrapped it around her she immediately felt safer, more secure, and she let her little side come out completely.

Ally didn’t always wear a diaper when she was little. Alot of the time she regressed to a child around three, but often Jake put her in diapers when he thought she was regressing further or, like tonight, when he thought she needed some extra care and attention.

“Now let’s get you wrapped up nice and warm,” he said, turning to search through her drawers until he found a purple onesie. Ally had been thrilled when these had come back in fashion. They even made them with a drop seat so Jake could change her diaper without having to take the whole thing off.

Once she was dressed in the comfortable onesie, Jake climbed into bed beside her, and clasping her close against his chest, replaced her binky with a bottle of warm milk. Held tightly against his warm chest Ally sucked sleepily on the bottle. Her eyes drifted closed. As the nipple was removed from her mouth she let out a small murmur of protest. But it was quickly replaced by her binky and she easily drifted off into a deep, dreamless sleep.

  Chapter Two

Ally woke slowly, lazily, feeling completely relaxed for the first time in days. She’d slept well, but still felt that grogginess that sometimes came with a deep sleep. Opening her eyes slowly, she let herself adjust to her surroundings. The sun was streaming in through the window.

Drat. She’d slept in. Jake was gone, his side of the bed cool. Ally sat up with a sigh and realised he’d removed her diaper before he’d left. It was a strict rule of Jake’s that she was never to take a diaper off herself and she was glad he’d remembered, she wouldn’t have liked to have spent the day without a change of diaper!

Moving into the bathroom she took care of her pressing needs. Then before turning on the shower she performed her morning ritual. Standing naked in front of the mirror she sucked in her stomach and turned side on, trying to envision how she’d look if she was thin.

Grabbing a measuring tape, she took her waist and hip measurements. They were the same as yesterday. Finally, she stepped on the scales, sighing. No matter how strict she was about what she ate the scales just never seemed to change. Oh sometimes they were a little up or a little down, but nothing drastic, nothing worth celebrating.

Dejection weighed her down, slumping her shoulders as Ally climbed into the piping hot shower. A failure, that’s what she was. A complete and utter failure. Why couldn’t she lose just a few pounds? She just wanted to flatten her stomach a bit. She wasn’t even going to worry about her wobbly thighs and cellulite. Otherwise she’d truly become overwhelmed.

Ally was so jealous of women who never seemed to struggle with their weight. Like her friend, Haley. She was tiny. And she never seemed to gain weight, no matter what she ate. Although her friend wasn’t a big eater.

Well, she’d just have to keep trying. Eat less, exercise more.

  Yuck, exercise.

With a big sigh, Ally stepped out of the shower and dried herself off before dressing. Walking into the kitchen, she grabbed a plain yoghurt from the fridge before moving into the study.

When she’d moved in, Jake had rearranged his study so she could fit her desk in, giving her space to work in that was her own. She worked from home as a freelance website designer. She made enough money to ensure she would be comfortable should anything ever happen to her and Jake. But although she was highly s
ought after she was never tempted to expand. She enjoyed her work, but she also liked having time to spend with Jake. In a very short time he’d come to mean so much to her, if only she could let go of the past then her life would be truly complete.

  *****

“Ally! Where are you, baby?” Jake called out

Ally jolted and gasped, looking over at the clock on the wall, just past seven. How on earth had it gotten so late?

Jake appeared in the doorway, frowning slightly as Ally quickly saved and closed her work.

  “It’s quarter past seven, Ally.”

Early on in their relationship Jake had made the rule that Ally wasn’t to work past 5.30pm. Left to her own devices she’d been known to work through the night, crashing in the early hours of the morning.

“I slept in late,” she explained as she rose quickly and took a step towards him. “I was behind. I’m so sorry I didn’t realise what the time was, I’ll start on dinner.”

As she took a few more steps the room swirled, colors mixing together dizzily until she would have fallen had Jake not caught her up in his arms. Ally closed her eyes, breathing deeply to stave off the nausea that caught her unawares. Jake placed her on the sofa before pressing his fingers over her wrist, taking her pulse.

“Ally, stay with me here, honey. Do you feel sick? Are you hurt anywhere? I want you to talk to me, baby.” Jake’s voice was very firm.

Ally started to feel a little better as she lay flat and still. She opened her eyes when she was sure she wasn’t going to start spewing. Jake was kneeling on the floor beside her, his face displaying his concern. “I’m fine. I just stood up too quickly.”

Jake stared down at her dubiously before rising to his feet. “Stay there,” he ordered, his voice pure steel and Ally nodded. He left the room and she took a deep breath, cursing herself.

It was just a little dizzy spell, but now Jake was going to overreact. Especially after last night. Damn. Why didn’t she notice the time? If she’d gotten up earlier he wouldn’t have been home. And she knew exactly why she’d grown dizzy. And it wasn’t because she’d stood too quickly. The rumbling emptiness of her stomach told her exactly what was wrong.
